About Morris-Depew
Founded in 1989 by Mike Morris, one of Southwest Florida’s most respected and influential engineering consultants, and David Depew, well known for his services as Lee County Development Director, planning consultant and litigation expert, Morris-Depew Associates is headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida. Since it commencement, MDA has expanded to become a full service professional consulting firm with in-house capabilities for all phases of engineering, planning, survey/mapping and landscape architecture. This range of capabilities allows MDA to address urban, residential, commercial, industrial, recreational and community oriented projects from initial inception to final stages of delivery.
Ryan Shute and Bill Morris joined Morris-Depew Associates in 1996 and 1997 respectively. As Principals of the firm, both lend their expertise in transportation, stormwater management, water distribution, wastewater collection and land development. Responsible for the management of all phases of permitting and design, transportation, stormwater management, public works engineering projects as well as regulatory agency contacts and client relations. Bill also focuses on computer modeling, and geographic information systems.
Morris Depew Associates’ professional expertise in both state and local projects have allowed for expansion into both the Gainesville and Tallahassee markets. A Tallahassee office was opened in 2005 with a focus on growth management and hazard mitigation. The Gainesville office opened in 2006 to accommodate both Gainesville and the surrounding North Central Florida vicinity.

Since its inception in 1989, Morris-Depew Associates has grown to 45 professional associates. The members of MDA have experience in the planning and design of a wide variety of large-scale resort residential projects to urban community spaces and industrial--commercial multi-use developments. This extensive and up-to-date experience is intended to serve the client through the full range of the development process from the initial stages of project visualization, to planning and land use authorization, to design and engineering approvals, to the preparation of accurate construction budgets and oversight of the site development process.
Morris-Depew Associates staffs some of the most skilled professionals in the field. Mark Hatfield, Vice President of Surveying, has over thirty years experience in boundary determination, topographic surveys, specific purpose surveys, construction staking, subdivision design and has been certified as an expert witness. James M. McCord, Vice President of the Landscape Architecture Division, possesses over twenty years experience in the design, construction, and management of landscape and irrigation projects. He has won numerous landscape design awards for his projects.
