One of the Co-Founding Principals, Michael W. Morris devoted more than two decades to the firm before his passing. Mr. Morris helped set the stage for the foundation of success and excellence the firm is known for today.
As a principal of Morris-Depew Associates, Mr. Morris was responsible for the management of all phases of transportation, stormwater, and public works engineering projects and served as the firm’s chief engineer.
Prior to founding Morris-Depew Associates, he successfully organized and directed the Planning and Permitting Division of Lee County Department of Transportation and Engineering. In this position, he managed all transportation and surface water management planning and traffic engineering activities throughout Lee County and acted as the County Engineer. He also served in the following high-level positions: Director, Fort Myers Regional Office, South Florida Water Management District; Engineering Director, Lehigh Corporation and Land Resources Corporation; and Director and City Engineer, Public Works Department, City of Fort Myers.
During his career, he also served as a member of several local and state advisory committees for transportation planning, comprehensive planning, and development regulation. He was also recognized as one of the leading expert witnesses on regional transportation and stormwater issues.
His legacy today lives on through the firm’s continued services throughout the state of Florida and numerous projects that have helped shape Southwest Florida.
